Welcome To UPP Arts!
OPPORTUNITY FOR TEACHING ARTISTS
UPP Arts is accepting project proposals from teaching artists to
further educate and involve the Mashapaug community in the history and health of our pond, due by November 15th. Our focus for this
year is WATER. How can we make water more visible to ourselves and others, teach the ways we currently use water and feed
students' imaginations to create props for the procession that promote water consciousness and conservancy? We invite you to
develop and submit an arts-based proposal to address the needs of the public outreach planned for this year.
More detailed information about the proposal requirements
can be found here.
MASHPAUG POND FEATURED
ON NEW "RHODE TOUR" APP
UPP Arts collaborated with students at Brown University's John Nicholas Brown Center for Public Humanities and Cultural Heritage
and the Rhode Island Council for the Humanities to create a digital tour of Mashapaug Pond. Combining photography, audio, video
and written narratives, the tour takes us on a dynamic and deep journey through the history, science, politics, identities and
spirits of community surrounding Mashapaug. You can download the free app for your Android or iPhone.
CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS
We rely on enthusiastic volunteers like you to make our procession a success! Please drop us a line if you have ideas, want to lend
a hand, or would like to be notified of our monthly planning meetings. In particular, if you have advice about staging a procession
or fresh fundraising suggestions to help sustain our programming, we would love to hear from you!
